Area teens learn Search & Rescue Operations

Grand Ledge, Mi.  The Scott M Burgess Civil Air Patrol Squadron is honoring three of its cadets who completed the challenging Search and Rescue (S.A.R.) Academy in July 2017.  It is one of the most physically demanding, academically stringent, and rewarding activity that Civil Air Patrol has to offer.  The cadets completing SAR this year are: (L to R) C/Capt Frederick Heidt (Advanced Course Lead Instructor), C/TSgt Alexander Harris and C/Capt. Caleb Glenn.

This academy training took place at Fort Custer.  Weather can be dry or rainy, with temperatures changing from the high 90’s to 40 degrees within hours.  Cadets were exposed to hands-on SAR, field Leadership experience, and survival training that will be of use all of their life.  For more information contact Lieutenant Rick Williams at 517-256-7821 or email: cprteachers@gmail.com

The Civil Air Patrol is the auxiliary to the Air Force.  We provide training to cadets in search and rescue, leadership, aerospace education, community volunteer opportunities.  Cadets also will have the opportunity to do Orientation Flights by flying powered airplanes and gliders.  visit www.gocivilairpatrol.com.
